The new residential services legislation defines a residential accommodation service. It establishes systems for the registration and accreditation of residential services to ensure the services are conducted at an appropriate standard. Guidance on building legislation associated with residential services is available for building certifiers and local government. However, the department does not administer any of the residential services legislation, nor does it have a legislative role in this regard. Any enquiries regarding the following topics should be directed to the respective agencies. Residential Services (Accreditation) Act 2002For information about residential services accreditation, contact the Residential Services Accreditation Branch, Office of Fair Trading. For information about the accommodation rights and responsibilities of residents and service providers contact the Residential Tenancies Authority. Fire safety in budget accommodation buildingsFor information about building fire safety legislation, compliance and assessment information, see our fire safety section. Obtaining copies of the legislationCopies of the legislation can be downloaded, free of charge, from the Office of the Queensland Parliamentary Counsel’s website: Hard copies can be purchased from the Goprint bookshop. |
