Delivering infrastructure is one of the key priority areas in the government response to growth management. As part of this priority, the government will ensure infrastructure delivery plays a vital role in growth management by clearly linking new infrastructure with population. This will help ensure infrastructure is provided when and where it is needed. To deliver on this priority, two key initiatives and three supporting actions have been identified. Key initiativesIntroduce a Queensland Infrastructure PlanThe Queensland Government has released the inaugural Queensland Infrastructure Plan (QIP) that clearly links infrastructure delivery with population growth and economic development priorities. The QIP integrates a number of existing state infrastructure planning documents such as the South East Queensland Infrastructure Plan and Program (SEQIPP) and the Far North Queensland Infrastructure Plan. Confirm distribution of dwelling targetsWork in partnership with local government to confirm the distribution of dwelling targets within South East Queensland through the development of a QIP. This will help strengthen the link between infrastructure investment and accommodating dwelling targets within the existing urban footprint and investigation areas in the South East Queensland Regional Plan. Supporting actionsLocal infrastructure investmentWork more closely with local governments in the sequencing of infrastructure projects to take account of significant local infrastructure investment. Options for funding greenfield site infrastructureInvestigate options (such as tolling policies) to fund infrastructure in greenfield sites that are isolated and therefore rely on extremely high levels of state investment.
