Queensland Infrastructure Plan Print E-mail

The Queensland Government has finalised the inaugural Queensland Infrastructure Plan (QIP) (PDF icon 10 MB) - a blueprint that will guide the state’s infrastructure priorities for the next two decades and beyond.

The final version of the QIP, incorporating feedback from community, industry and local government, identifies nearly 1000 projects and programs across the state over the next 20 years, making Queensland a national leader with the largest and most forward-thinking statewide infrastructure plan in Australia.

The QIP is the platform for the planning, prioritising and sequencing infrastructure across the state. It identifies the infrastructure needed to support and further encourage growth across Queensland’s major regional economic zones of minerals, coal and energy, gas, agriculture, tropical expertise and tourism. The QIP will improve the way existing infrastructure is managed, and provides a pipeline of targeted investment to deliver infrastructure where and when it is most needed.

Consultation

In July 2011, a QIP consultation document (PDF icon 3.66 MB) was released in order to get feedback from industry, local government and the community on infrastructure projects and priorities.

Supporting the government’s vision

The Queensland Government has a vision to support and create regions that are great places to live, work and visit and that capitalise on their unique strengths - creating strong, resilient and prosperous centres.

The QIP has been developed alongside the Queensland Regionalisation Strategy to ensure that Queensland has the infrastructure to respond to the prosperity and quality of life needs as the state’s population and economy continue to grow.
