As assessment managers, Queensland local government plays an important role in the development assessment process. Smart eDA streamlines the lodgement and payment process to councils while providing a mechanism to track and communicate the progress of development applications through to the development assessment outcome. Participating in Smart eDA is voluntary for all councils. With the time-savings achieved by moving from a paper-based to an electronic process, it is anticipated that more councils will accept electronic development applications through Smart eDA. Smart eDA can still be used to prepare applications for lodgement to councils who are yet to participate. Simply print the application and lodge manually. Electronic payment of fees to participating councils can be completed through the Queensland Government's Smart Service Queensland payment gateway available through the Smart eDA system.
