The initial phase of community consultation closed on 18 November 2011 which helped to identify some ideas about different design features (e.g. low, medium or high rise buildings) and preferred uses for the site (e.g. shops, offices, parks, services allied to health and community services etc). Nearly 400 submissions were received with a diverse range of views expressed. In terms of design features the results were mixed and there is no clear preference for preferred design features. In terms of land uses, while there was a preference for the site to retain services allied to health (e.g. dentistry, nursing, physiotherapy, speech therapy etc) to be located on the site, preferences for other dominant land uses were relatively evenly distributed, including: public space, education and community services (e.g. aged care, mental health, women's refuge etc). The results of this feedback will need to be considered in conjunction with the recommendations of technical studies and advice from specialist consultants, and results from future community engagement activities to be held over the next few months. Please check here again for information about future feedback opportunities.
