The Local Government Remuneration and Discipline branch supports the tribunal in preparing the annual Remuneration Schedule and report that leads to the tribunal's determinations by 1 December, annually.

Councillor remuneration consultation

As part of the process for annual remuneration determination, the tribunal considers community expectations and undertakes a consultation period in order to meet the legislative requirements of the Local Government Act 2009.

Making section 43 submissions

Under section 43 of the Local Government (Operations) Regulation 2010, a local government can make a submission to the Local Government Remuneration and Discipline Tribunal to seek a variation in the amount of remuneration that has been determined for a councillor.

To assist local governments and maintain transparency, the tribunal will provide details of any section 43 submission it receives online. The tribunal will include information about the outcome of each section 43 submission.
