Greywater from bathroom and laundry basins, showers and washing machines can be used above ground. To use greywater on your lawn and garden you can:

• manually bucket greywater onto lawns and gardens with no council approval required
• attach a flexible hose to your washing machine outlet which does not require council approval
• install an approved greywater diversion or treatment system to disperse the greywater above or below ground with local council approval and installation by a licensed plumber.

A greywater treatment system must hold a chief executive approval or its predecessor before it can be installed.
