Flooding causes significant impacts on Queensland’s communities and the economy. As our climate continues to change, flooding events are likely to become more frequent and more intense.

To improve Queensland’s resilience to changing flood conditions the department collaborated on an Inland Flooding Study with the former Department of Environment and Resource Management and the Local Government Association of Queensland.

The Inland Flooding Study provides:

• a climate change factor for incorporation into flood studies
• specific policy options for improved flood risk management in the Gayndah case study area
• recommendations for the review of State Planning Policy 1/03 Mitigating the Adverse Impacts of Flood, Bushfire and Landslide (SPP 1/03).
