Professional development activities must be completed satisfactorily (as determined by Women in Local Government Strategy Group members) by 30 June 2012.
Should it become impossible to complete the professional development by 30 June 2012, the bursary recipient must apply in writing to the Women in Local Government Strategy Group seeking consideration for an extension of the completion date. Extensions are considered on a case-by-case basis, and will not extend beyond December 2012.
There is no length of service requirement for applicants to be eligible to apply for the bursary.
The bursary can be used to cover or off-set (but is not limited to) the costs of attending conferences, courses or workshops, purchasing supporting resources (e.g. books, videos and dvds), up-front university fees, TAFE fees, and other related expenses that may include domestic travel and accommodation.
Recipients will not receive a cash payment - they will be reimbursed for fees paid. All invoices with proof of payment must be submitted to our department for reimbursement.
Applications must be approved by the CEO or Mayor of the Council where the applicant works.
If a bursary recipient fails to comply with any of the bursary conditions or fails to perform the professional development activity to a satisfactory level (as determined by the Women in Local Government Strategy Group members), the bursary may be cancelled. Reimbursement upon provision of invoices and proof of payment may also be withheld until the condition is met or performance is considered satisfactory.
Where payment of a bursary is cancelled, the bursary may then be awarded to another suitable applicant for the remainder of the applicable term. Any residual funding or entitlements are transferred from the original recipient to the new recipient.
On completion of the professional development activities, recipients will be required to write a short two–three page report on the activities undertaken, for which a template will be supplied. A copy of this report must be submitted to the Women in Local Government Strategy Group within six weeks of the completion date.
