Selection criteria Print E-mail

Selection of bursary recipients and funding distribution are based on the responses provided in the application form  (Word icon 575 KB).

Members of the Women in Local Government Strategy Group, at their absolute discretion, will assess the applications on merit and any other criteria it considers appropriate.

Applicants will not be interviewed although they may be contacted for clarification if necessary.

The application form  (Word icon 575 KB) must be completed in full, including comments from colleagues, the CEO or the Mayor (as indicated in the application form) and must include the endorsement of the CEO or Mayor.

Applications will be assessed overall on the applicant’s exemplary workplace practice as well as:

  • the professional development proposal or intended use of the bursary
  • how well the proposal aligns with the council’s strategic and professional development plan
  • the expected outcomes for the applicant, clients and colleagues
  • the scope and feasibility of the professional development (budget).

The CEO or Mayor is required to complete specific sections and then endorse the application. In doing so, they acknowledge that it may be necessary for the applicant to undertake these activities during work hours.
